AVIATION DAY CONFERENCE, 3rd May!

Don’t miss the AVIATION DAY CONFERENCE 🛫, on the 3rd of May, organized under the scope of Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Aviation Day aims to promote the debate on the present and future of aviation, within the framework of the recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, contributing to the debate of the measures that may enhance a faster and always safe recovery, as well as a more resilient sector.
The event will have three panels related to the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union motto “Time to deliver: a fair, green and digital recovery”.

I – The RECOVERY of the Aviation sector during and after the COVID-19 pandemic
This panel will cover the aviation sector recovery perspectives in the short and the long term. The discussion will focus on the impact of the pandemic in the sector, namely in economic and social terms, considering the measures that may contribute to a swifter recovery, promoting mobility in the midst of the pandemic control, such as Digital Green Certificate.

II – The contribution of aviation for a GREEN economy
This panel will discuss the strategies and actions developed within the aviation sector in order to achieve the decarbonisation objectives and the framework of CORSIA and ETS. Several stakeholders will give their insights on the green policies that are being developed, touching upon the current developments concerning sustainable alternative fuels and the way to greener airports. The panel will also discuss fiscal policies that are being followed in order to incentivise pro environmental behaviour, such as carbon taxation, as well as the main technological developments concerning noise mitigation.

III – The DIGITAL path and the aviation of the future
This panel will approach digitalization and the contribution that it has brought and will yet bring to the recovery of the travel and tourism sector following the pandemic that certainly mark the normal future of aviation. Other factors that prove the strong and inevitable tendency to the growing digitalization in several areas will be discussed, such as the U-space management and the satellite navigation. It will also analyse the contribution of digitalization to consumer protection.
